Bailey's C E Supermarket,
Falmouth - (268) 460-1142 If you are either
anchored in Falmouth Harbor or docked at the Marina,
Bailey’s and Dockside Liquors are both close by and each
offer fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs brought in by
local farmers as well as imports. Ask locals which days
each store receives shipments and produce from local
farmers.

The Epicurean, St John's - Friars Hill
Rd. (268) 462-2565. An excellent place for a solid
provisioning. About 6 months into our trip, I
re-provisioned at the Epicurean supermarket, in the Wood
Centre Complex. The Epicurean is, for a supermarket at
least, rather expensive, but they carry many products I
couldn't find elsewhere and this is a one-stop shop. As
close to a US market as you're going to find in the
Caribbean. The Epicurean was open daily from 8am to 10pm
when we were visiting.
Choice Foods - Anchorage Road,
268-463-3663. Another excellent place for a solid
provisioning and slightly less expensive than Epicurean.
Between the two, which are located fairly close to one
another, you can find everything you need.
Farmer's Market
Farmers Market Antigua - Joanne
Lighthizer runs this exceptional, quaint market which
you’ll find off the beaten path, an experience not to be
missed. You’ll find a variety of fresh herbs (ask Joanne
to leave the roots attached if you want longevity), leafy
greens, corn, pumpkin, onions, and fruits in addition to
fresh large brown eggs, a variety of 9” round quiche,
fresh white or whole wheat breads and pastries. As of
November 2009, the market was open on Tuesdays and
Fridays. You can place an order by contacting Joanne at
268-764-3630 or email at farmersmarketantigua@yahoo.com.
The market is located in the garden of Oacis Plants on
Friars Hill Rd. (same road that Epicurean is on, just
keep going past Epicurean about 5 minutes drive and Oacis
is on the left just before the junction to Hodges Bay.)
St. John's Farmer's Market - There is an
open market in St. John's every Saturday (and some
stalls seem to be there all week), selling mostly local
produce at affordable prices. I have not been to this
market since my needs are met through Farmers Market
Antigua and Bailey’s.

Docks
Upon occasion, I was able to approach a local fisherman at the dock to purchase individual mahi mahi or wahoo steaks.
Recipes
Lime-Grilled Mahi Mahi Steaks (or Tuna Steaks)
Serves 6
6 mahi mahi steaks - about 1-inch thick
Ingredients for grilling sauce:
1/4 cup fresh lime juice (2 to 3 limes)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp grated fresh ginger root, optional
1 tsp Dijon-style mustard
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
Preheat grill. In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, ginger root, mustard, salt, and pepper. Brush the mahi mahi or tuna steak with about one-third of the dressing and reserve the rest.
Place the mahi mahi steaks on the grill, and cook to desired temperature, flipping only once. Brush mahi mahi steaks once again after flipping.
Lime and Lemon Marinade for Grilled Wahoo
4 wahoo steaks
Ingredients for marinade:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
Directions:
Whisk together olive oil, lime and lemon juice, paprika, and red pepper in a small bowl. Place wahoo in a dish. Pour the marinade mix over the fish, place in refrigerator, and let stand for half an hour. Remove wahoo steaks from fridge, remove from pan, and grill for 15 minutes, turning once during that time. You can use the leftover marinade mix to baste the fish while it is grilling.
